Installing and activating GeneratePress

This catches a lot of people out so please read this important point…

GeneratePress Premium is a plugin, not a theme.

So after you buy and download GeneratePress premium, make sure you add the zip file as a plugin, not a theme.

And then activate the add-ons: Dashboard > Appearance > GeneratePress

Don’t forget, this catches a lot of people out.

The steps…

  1. Install and activate the free theme that you get from WordPress.org
  2. Buy, download and install the premium PLUGIN from GeneratePress.com

Got it?

  • Free theme AND…
  • Premium plugin

Make sure the theme and plugin are BOTH installed and activated.

After activating the theme and the plugin, you need to choose which add-ons to activate. Most people activate all of the add-ons, but it’s up to you. If for instance, you know you don’t need the WooCommerce add-on, don’t activate it.

To activate your add-ons go to…

Dashboard > Appearance > GeneratePress
Until you enable the individual add-ons you want to use here, they won’t be available in your dashboard. And the GeneratePress options available for pages and posts will also be hidden.
So make sure your add-ons are ACTIVATED before moving on to the next step.
